737th Expeditionary Airlift Squadron

10/7/2008 - SOUTHWEST ASIA -- Staff Sgt. Ronnie Johnson

Flight engineer

Home unit/base: 40th Airlift Squadron, Dyess Air Force Base, Texas

How do you support the mission here? I support the mission by moving cargo and essential equipment and putting boots on the ground at all the locations across the U.S. Central Command area of responsibility on time every time.

How many times have you deployed and what makes this one unique? This is my first deployment as a C-130 flight engineer. What makes this deployment unique is all the places I have been able to travel to in support of Operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom.

How does your job differ in a deployed environment vs. home base? My job is different here because I fly in aircraft which perform unconventional combat tactics; I also perform hot weather procedures and scan for threats.
